EWST — Evangelical School of Theology, Wrocław (Ewangelikalna Wyższa Szkoła Teologiczna)

Ewangelikalna Wyższa Szkoła Teologiczna (Evangelical School of Theology) in Wrocław is a private college whose degree is recognised by the Polish state. On 19 October 2006 the Minister of Science and Higher Education entered it in the register of non-public higher-education institutions under number 336. The school describes itself as the first non-public theological college in Poland to be registered under the Higher Education Act.

It offers one programme: a bachelor’s degree (licencjat) in theology, studied part-time. It takes four years, eight semesters and thirty subjects, with ten weekends of lectures a year, held online, plus six months of practical placement. That makes it possible to study while working and serving in a local church anywhere in Poland. Graduates can go on to a master’s in the humanities at other universities in Europe.

Two other Protestant theological schools in Poland are worth knowing: the Christian Theological Academy (ChAT) in Warsaw, a public university with Lutheran, Orthodox, Old Catholic, Protestant and evangelical tracks; and the Pentecostal Church’s Wyższa Szkoła Teologiczno-Społeczna (WSTS) in Warsaw, which also teaches a theology programme in English.
